CLEAN SURFACE

Surface Prep

Remove all rust and debris from the hub face. Any grit between the hub and rim acts as a grinding paste, loosening nuts over time.

STAR PATTERN

Star Pattern

Tighten forklift lug nuts in a star (criss-cross) pattern. Do not tighten sequentially in a circle, as this warps the brake drum.

Use a calibrated torque wrench. For Kalmar Reach Stackers, typical torque for M22 wheel nuts is 550-650 Nm. Retorque after 50 hours.

Loose wheel nuts are often caused by: 1) Paint on the mating surface (thermal cycling compresses the paint, creating a gap). 2) Worn stud threads (check for stretching). 3) Under-torquing. We recommend using Zhenke Dacromet-coated nuts which provide consistent friction coefficients for accurate torquing.

ABSOLUTELY NOT. Grade 10.9 and 12.9 bolts are critical for high-stress areas like Reach Stacker boom connections and mast anchors. Using Grade 8.8 significantly reduces shear strength and will lead to catastrophic structural failure under load.

Rolled threads are formed by pressing the steel, which preserves the grain flow and hardens the surface. Cut threads slice through the grain, creating weak points. Zhenke uses only rolled threads for all dynamic load fasteners, increasing fatigue life by 30%.
