Common Failure Points

  • Hydraulic Drift: Usually caused by worn seals in the lift cylinder. We recommend replacing seals every 2,000 hours.
    View Seal Kits →
  • Axle Overheating: Often due to dragging wet disc brakes on Kessler axles. Check the cooling oil circulation pump.

  • ECU Communication Error: Can bus wiring faults are common in port environments. Check the harness continuity before replacing the ECU.

Diagnostic Workflows

Step-by-step guides for fixing common forklift issues.

Hydraulic Pressure Loss
Engine Won’t Start
Brake Failure

diagnosing Low Hydraulic Pressure

Symptom: Slow lifting speed or inability to lift rated load.

  1. Check hydraulic fluid level and filter condition. Clogged filters cause cavitation.
  2. Connect a pressure gauge to the main pump test port. Rated pressure should be ~240 bar (for Kalmar).
  3. If pressure is low, adjust the relief valve. If no change, the gear pump internal wear is likely excessive.
Tech Tip: Always check the priority valve on the steering circuit first. A stuck priority valve can starve the lift circuit.

Engine Cranks But Won’t Start

System: Volvo TAD / Cummins QSB Common Rail Diesel.

  1. Check fuel rail pressure during cranking. Minimum 300 bar required.
  2. Inspect the camshaft position sensor signal using an oscilloscope.
  3. Verify the ECU fuse and main relay operation.

Wet Disc Brake Failure

System: Kessler / Rockwell Drive Axle.

If pedal is spongy, bleed the brake lines. If braking is weak but pedal is firm, check the accumulator pre-charge pressure (Nitrogen).

Material Science: Why Generic Seals Fail

Cheap aftermarket seals cause internal bypass in forklift hydraulic cylinders. We use Viton? and PTFE composites engineered for the high-pressure spikes of reach stacker operations.
